The Gene Kelly classic scored live
Symphony Silicon Valley's ongoing movie season continues with one of Hollywood's great musicals. Starring the great Gene Kelly in one of his signature roles, Singin' in the Rain is a lavish MGM spectacular about the movies' difficult transition from silent film to talkies.
Kelly stars as actor Don whose latest picture is under threat because his leading lady Lina has a voice which is not too pleasant to the ears. A solution presents itself in the form of jobbing actress Kathy, who has the voice of songbird. Brought in to dub Lina's lines. Kathy and Don fall for each other, but Lina is not happy, and threatens to derail the movie unless Lina is kicked off the project. The iconic score, which will be played live to picture by the Symphony, includes one instantly recognisable number after another, from the title track to 'Make em' laugh' and 'Moses Supposes'.
