The compelling story of The Delany Sisters
Based on the 1993 New York Times bestselling book, Having Our Say, The Delany Sisters' First 100 Years chronicles the lives of sisters Sarah "Sadie" L. Delany and A. Elizabeth "Bessie" Delany, civil rights pioneers who were born to a slave. Their stories were first brought to light through a New York Times interview which later became a book and transformed into a Broadway play in 1995.
Upon its premiere, the play received the Tony Award nomination for Best Play. The story also became a TV film, receiving a Peabody Award and a Christopher Award.
