Featuring an A-List voiceover cast including Val Kilmer and Sandra Bullock, Dreamworks' Prince of Egypt, the animated motion picture, broke new ground by combining the epic scope of Moses' biblical journey with an incredible score by Grammy and Academy Award-winning composer Stephen Schwartz. The man behind international smash hit Wicked, Schwartz joins forces with TheatreWorks to bring the breathtaking musical to stage this Fall for a rumoured pre-Broadway run at San Francisco's Mountain View Centre For The Performing Arts.
The World Premiere production features a multi-ethnic ensemble cast who'll portray the thrilling Book Of Exodus saga of the brothers Moses and Ramses, told through classic songs like the Oscar-winning When You Believe (as sang by Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey), Let My People Go, Deliver Us and Heaven's Eyes.
Set at the height of the Nineteenth Dynasty in Ancient Egypt, The Prince of Egypt's protagonist is religious figure Moses, adoptive son to the reigning Pharaoh and brother to Ramses, Egypt's future ruler. When he learns he is Hebrew, Moses, unable to face the slavery of his own people, imposes a self-exile and becomes a shepherd. Yet when God appears to him in the form of a burning bush, Moses returns to Egypt to end the cruelty of slavery and lead his people to better lands.
